Good Pictures bad Pictures, Jr. by Kristen Jenson

This is an excellent book to read children ages 3-6 years old to teach what to do when they are accedentally exposed to inappropriate content.  With the skyrocketing use of technology by young children, this topic is becoming incredibly important to address.  This book will give you the tools and knowledge to arm and protect your children.

Good Pictures Bad Pictures by Kristen A Jenson

The rapid expansion of technology has put our children at risk for earlier and more frequent exposure to pornography.  I HIGHLY recommend this book if you have any 8-12 yr old child.  The best thing you can do to help them is to educate them and give them the knowledge and tools they will need to porn-proof their own brains.  Don't wait or ignore, but check out this very good resource.  She also wrote a book for younger children.

The 5 Love Languages of Children®: The secret to loving children effectively

Loving your children is not enough, you must do so in a way they recognize and feel your love.  Excellent book!

The 5 Love Languages for Teens®: How to Love Teens Effectively

Teenage years can be challenging, but it is all the more important that they are feeling our love.  I highly recommend this book for all parents of teenagers.

The 5 Love Languages®: The Secret to Love That Lasts

Having a solid marriage is extremely important for kids.  It provides security and models what a healthy relationship looks like.  Reading and understanding the 5 love languages has strengthened my marriage.

The Tech-Wise Family: Everyday Steps for Putting Technology in Its Proper Place by Andy Crouch

When I first had kids 27 years ago, we had a much different technology picture.  With the explosion of devices, we need to be attentive to what, where, and how our children consume information.

Ready for Responsibility

This is one of my favorite parenting books.  It changed the way I thought about my everyday role as a parent, from getting through today to training our children for the future.

The Blessing: Giving the Gift of Unconditional Love and Acceptance

"Children of every age long for the gift of "the blessing"-the unconditional love and approval tha come from a healthy relationship with their parents.  This life-changing gift, essential for instilling a deep sense of self-worth and unshakable emotional well-being, contains five essential elements; meaningful touch, a spoken message, attaching high value, picturing a special future, and an active commitment."

When Your Teen is Struggling: Real Hope & Practical Help for Parents Today

I have listened to Mark Gregston on-line for years and his wisdom is sound.  Here is the book's description taken from Amazon:

"At the end of your rope with your teen? Terrified of the teen horror stories you hear from other parents? It's not easy to be a teenager today, and it's even more challenging to parent teens effectively. Teens face changes in the culture, epidemic levels of social problems, and often develop a real sense of despair that can lead to self-harm, depression, addiction, rebellion and sexual promiscuity. These behaviors don't just hurt your teens: they affect everyone in the family. When your teen acts out, it doesn't mean he is a -bad- kid. And it doesn't mean you are -bad- parents. Great families of all shapes, sizes, values, and income levels find the teen years a challenge. The trick is learning how to love and stand by your teen without accepting the bad behaviors. In When Your Teen is Struggling, author Mark Gregston shares insights, wisdom, and tips for every parent facing hard times with their teen. Mark has taken lessons learned at the boarding school he runs in East Texas"

The Two Sides of Love by Smalley & Trent

Smalley and Trent cover personalities in a fun way, using 4 animals, the otter, lion, beaver, and golden retriever.  In this book, they describe the different personalities which help us understand ourselves and our children.  It also highlights how it affects how we parent and how we can improve our relationships with our children and others.
