Potato Gouda Chowder
In gallon zip-lock:
3/4 cup shredded Gouda cheese
1 cup Chopped cabbage
¼ cup Bacon cooked and cut in small pieces
3- 14 oz cans Chicken broth
1 cup Cream
3 cups potatoes, cubed and boiled until starting to get tender
1/2 cup Swiss cheese
1 tsp. salt (optional)
Put in gallon zip lock baggie and then double bag before freezing.
Thaw and heat on stove until cheese is melted. I usually bring to a boil, then turn heat down and simmer for about 3-60 mins or heat in crockpot. Serve with fresh bread, salad.
This takes a while to prep, so I make up 8 bags at a time (we use 2 bags each meal to feed my larger family) so I buy the following to make my large batch.
For 4 double recipes, 8 total bags I buy:
1 package chopped cabbage
1 Costco Gouda cheese
1 Swiss cheese slices
2 lbs bacon or 1 package precooked bacon at Costco
Large bag of potatoes
2 heavy cream quarts
8 large organic chicken broth cartons at Costco
